The weekend of May 16th 2009 we completed a day hike to Roger lake above onion valley. We went and baked Oatmeal cookies and had sandwiches for lunch at the lake. The views were great with snow on all the north facing slopes.
We hit a lot of areas of the trail that still had snow about 2 to 3 feet deep but were easy to cross. This is a great area for day hikes as its only about 2 to 3 miles and you are with in reach of about 4 or five alpine lakes.
This is just off the Hwy 395 in California eastern Seirras.
